Laboratory and field trials were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of imidacloprid to control Greenhouse whitefly. The field effectivenesses of 40～80mg/L of 20% imidacloprid at 1～15 days were 75.6%～96.5%,which were significantly higher than that of 100mg/L of 20% fenpropathrin. Imidacloprid showed stronger toxicity to Greenhouse whitefly than fenpropathrin. Its LC50 was only 1/100 of fenpropathrin s. 

Breeding of Heading Chinese Cabbage Resistant to TuMV

Four combinations of heading Chinese cabbage inbred lines resistant or susceptible to TuMV were made to screen resistance to TuMV and typical ovate head type which has leaf tip closing on the top,but not overlapping. By pedigree method,induiduals from each segregation generation were identified for resistance and head type. After four generations,26 inbred lines with resistance and ideal headtype were obtained. 

The combinated use of N,K and B increased leaf size and yield of lotus roots. The highest yield and profit,5.7t/ha and 15812 yuan/ha,were obtained when 270kg N,120kg K2O and 15kg B per hectare were used together. Deficiency of B,K and less use of N influenced yield greatly. Application of B fertilizer gained maximum profit. One kilogram B fertilizer could increase profit from 720 to 2469 Yuan/ha in the experiments. 

Longjiao No. 1 is a F1 hybrid of hot pepper with desirable traits including big fruits,thick pulp,good quality,good bear fruit property,high yield and resistance to TMV. The variety is suitable to plant under plastic film or on open field. The average yield was 52.6～60t/ha,30% higher than check‘Lanzhou Yangjiao’. 

‘Longfan No. 3’is a new early F1 hybrid of tomato crossing between early parents. Fruits are flat round,red and uniform and 135～150g per fruit. Average yield was about 5000kg/667m2. Compared with the contrast (‘Zaofeng’),it was 7 to 10 days earlier than‘Zaofeng’,a popular early variety. It is suitable to grow in Gansu,Qinghai,Inner mongolia and so on.

Strains Comn 1 and No.1800 of Staphylococcus aureus have been first compared during serological tests for detecting tomato viruses by virobacterial agglutination test (VBA). The results showed that the strain No. 1800’s sensitivities were 2～ 10 times higher than strain Comn 1’s. The former enabled the detection of ToMV,CMV and PVX viruses at a concentration of 3.4 ～ 13.0 ng / mL and the maximum leaf sap dilution of 1/ 1000 ～1/ 100000, which were almost equal to them by PAS-ELISA. ...

Xinfan No. 5’is a F 1 hybrid crossing ‘Zhongshu No. 6’ and line ‘0307’ with nonripening gene. The plant habit is indeterminate. The fruit is dark red and round. Average fruit weighted 140～160g. Thick skin and meat make the variety storable and resistant to cracking. When the fruits were stored for 70～90 day in autumn under room conditions. Seventy percent of fruits remained good.

Development of a New Early Tomato Variety——‘Qifan No. 6’

Qifan No. 6’,a new pink determinate tomato variety,was bred through composite hybridyzation. It is virus resistant and adaptable for condensed planting. The variety gave 140g to 160 g per fruit and 95 days from sowing to first harvest. Its harvest period duration concentrates only in 10 days and its early yield occupies 85% of total yields.

F 1 hybrid ‘Dongnong 706’ was bred by crossing line VF 13-L with resistance to TMV and Roma VF. The fruit is scarlet and high round. The soluble solid content is over 5.5% . The lycopene is over 8.5 mg / 100g. Average fruit weighed 60～70g. The variety showed high resistance to TMV and 112 days from sowing to first harvest. The variety can be used for processing.
