Abstract Solanum torvum Sw. which is relatived wild eggplant with good disease resistance and
stress tolerance，is widely used as rootstock in Solanaceae crops cultivation．It has disease resistance
and can increase production．The article reviews the research progress in applying S. torvum as
rootstock in eggplant production，and studying the mechanism of resisting disease and overcoming stress
injury by graft cultivation.
