Abstract The Asparagus of cinalis L.is a dioecious plant. Resistance and vitality of male asparagus plants are both better than that of female plants. Furthermore, the yield of male plants is higher than above 25% the female plants. However, the male cannot be differentiated from the female according to the phenotype of seedlings. So,it’s one of the vital fields for researchers to distinguish already at the seedling stage male from female plants,in which molecular markers linked to the sex locus is of most important. In this paper, the progress of molecular marker linked to sex in asparagus, including the cloning of sex-determining factors was reviewed. Meanwhile, the major problems in the study of molecular markers linked to sex in asparagus were discussed, and some suggestions were given.
