Studies on Measuring Methods of Leaf Area in Lettuce

Abstract：Leaf area is an important factor for determining the amount of photosynthesis products in
plants．In order to obtain a rapid，accurate and flexible method for measuring vegetable leaf areas，this paper
took lettuce as an example and measured the plant leaf areas using Image J processing software，then carried out
comparative verification on the results of traditional testing method check counting method and paper weighing
method．The results showed that there was no significant difference between these 3 methods．By equation
linear regression analysis，we discovered that the correlation coefficients between these 3 methods were all
above 0.99．Therefore，the Image J processing software could be accurately applied to measure leaf area of
lettuce．
