2 The Selection of New Early Spring Cabbage F_1 Hybrid 8398
Fang Zhiyuan;Sun Peitian;Liu Yumei;Yang Limei;Hou Anfu;Wang Xiaowu
is a new early spring hybrid of cabbage selected by crossing two promising self-incompatible lines, 8101-2-20-2 and 8180-1-2-1. The F_1 hybrid has good quality, early maturity and high productivity. It can be harvested 50 days after transplanting. The yield is about 49.5~ 57.0 t/ ha. It s yield, commercial quality, hybrid rate and seed germination are all much higher than Zhonggan No. 11, a widely used spring F_1 hybrid in China. The new F_1 hybrid has now been released on a large scale in northern China.

4 Breeding of a New Chinese Cabbage F_1 Hybrid Zhengbai No. 4
Liu Weihong;Zhang Xiaowei;Song Baolin
Zhengbai No. 4, a Chinese cabbage F_1 hybrid, was developed using self incompatible lines. The advantages of this F_1 hybrid are as follows:①multiple disease resistances to virus, downy mildew, Alternaria leaf spot and soft rot. ② high and stable yield, 1.06~1.47t/ ha, 8.37%~ 30.40% higher than local checks Yubaicai No. 1 and Fengkang 70. ③good quality, fresh leaf contains 2.5% sugar, 0.57% crude fiber, 70.68% of blade/ whole leaf. ④good marketing characteristics, light green outer leaves, whitish yellow he...

5 Selection of New Cucumber F_1 Hybrid Zhongnong No. 8 Suitable for Open Field Production
Fang Xiujuan;Gu Xingfang;Han Xu;Zhang Tianming
Cucumber F_1 hybrid Zhongnong No. 8 was selected by crossing with good inbred No. 211 and No. 273. The fruits are dark green without yellow stripe, tender crisp and with good commercial characteistics. The F_1 hybrid can resist downy mildew, powdery mildew and Fusarium wilt. The yield is 6~9.2t/ha, and with relatively stable production. That is suitable for open field production in spring and fall season and can be grown in different locations all over the country. The fruits not only supply the needs of fr...

6 Lu Fanqie No. 3 -A New Tomato F_1 Hybrid
Ye Qiulin;Zhang Qian;Yang Yuchun;Wang Yonghong
Lu Fanqie No. 3 (originally called Li Qi Fen) is a F_1 hybrid. It was crossed Qi T85-1 with Li Qiang Fen 01 . It produces round and dark pink fruits and grows vigorously. It contains 5. 14% soluble solid matter and average per fruit is 146g. The yield for 667m ̄2 was 5000~7778kg in the open field in spring. It has TM-1/TM-2 resistance gene and is suitable for many provinces and citis along with Yellow and Changjiang River.

Huang Aixing;Zheng Jinrong;Li Zhenxing;Chen Zhixi;Li Biran;Pu Hanli;Tang Bingqiu;Deng Minguang;Yu Hao;Xie Shuangda
Yue Xing is a tomato F_1 hybrid, resistant to tomato southern bacteria wilt and TMV, tolerant to CMV. The yield was 37.5t/ ha. Fruits are oval type, bright red with luster, good flavor. Average fruit weighs 85g. It produces more firm fruits, low cracking rate(8.54%)and low malformed fruit rate (0.05%). Therefore it is suitable for transportation and export. From sawing to first harvest it takes about 80 days in southern China. Until 1994, it has been extended more than 800 ha in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and...

8 Reversion of Insecticide Resistance in Plutella xylostella
Zhu Shuxun;Si Shengyun;Zou Feng;Liu Xiaoming;Wu Shixiong
The resistance ratios (RR) of Plutella xylostella in Wuhan were 197.47-and 100.29-folds to fenvalerate and phosemet compared with a susceptible ( S) strain. The RR declined when the Wuhan field strain ( WH) was reared on fresh cabbage leaves in the laboratory. There was no resistance in WH strain after 20 generation because of complete resistance reversion. The susceptibility of both WH and S strain to methomyl was low and the resistance reversion was also slow. The application of this study in insecticide re...

10 The Effect of Residual Quantity of Broken Plastic Film in the Cultivated Soil on Growth and Yield of Eggplant
An Zhixin;Wen Fengying;Lu Jinggang;Sun Liquan
The results of this experiment in 3 years are as follows: Pot experiment. The residual quantity of broken plastic film at 90~720kg/ha has no effect on the plant height, stem thickness and leaf area. The value of T/R ratio increased as the incerase of residual quantity of broken plastic film, but the correlation is not significant. The residual quantity of broken plastic film could effect the absorbability of plant to P_2O_5. Field plot experiment The variation of early yield, total yield and fruit numbers a...
