1 Applications and Prospects of Light Environment Control in Protected Vegetable Cultivation

The investigation and applications of light environment control and light emitting diode(LED)in protected vegetable cultivation were summarized in this paper.The main contents included the present status and existing problems in protected vegetable cultivation in China,application of light control in protected vegetable cultivation,studies and prospects of LED used in protected vegetable cultivation.

6 Effects of Cucumber Root Exudates on Soil Nutrients and Enzyme Activities under Salt Stress

Salt tolerant cucumber variety‘Jinchun No.5’and salt sensitive variety‘Jinyou No.1’were used with

NaCl concentration as 0 and 200 mmol·L-1,root exudates concentration as 0,30 mL per plant and 20 mL per plant to

study the effect of cucumber root exudates on soil nutrients and enzyme activities under salt stress by pot

experiment.Results showed that salt stress inhibited stem diameter,plant length,soil enzyme activities,alkali-

hydrolyzable nitrogen content,available phosphorus content and organic matter content,and significantly increased

available potassium.Under salt stress,except available potassium,low concentration of root exudates(30 mL per

plant)promoted every index in each treatment,eased salt stress to some extent;high concentration of root exudates(20

mL per plant)inhibited or significantly inhibited every index in each treatment,aggravated slat stress.

12 Studies on Relation between DNA Methylation and Ploidy of Plant Regeneration from Microspore of Pakchoi

By isolated microspore culture technique from pakchoi(Brassica rapa ssp.chinensis),9 regeneration plants

including 2 haploids and 7 diploids were obtained.The spontaneously double rate of diploid was up to 77.7 %.Two

haploids and 2 diploids were selected to construct their respective DNA pool.Combining MethylationSensitive

Restriction Endonuclease-PCR method with SRAP marker technique,it gained 8 primer combinations showing polymorphism

from 768 pairs of primers.It indicated that the ploidy level of regeneration plants from pakchoi may be related to

DNA methylation in plant genomics.

17 Analysis and Evaluation of Nitrate Content and Nitrite Content in Four Cruciferous Vegetables

The contents of nitrate,nitrite and VC in different varieties,different parts of the plant and different storage duration times of Chinese cabbage,Brassica oleracea,cauliflower and broccoli were analyzed and evaluated.The results showed that the highest content of nitrate was detected in Chinese cabbage,the lowest content was in cauliflower.The contents of nitrate,nitrite and VC varied between the four vegetables with different varieties and different parts of the plant.For Chinese cabbage and Brassica oleracea,the content of nitrate in lateral lobe was higher than middle lobe,in turn was higher than in inner lobe,the nitrate content in stalk was significantly higher than in leaves.The rank orders of VC in different parts were:inner lobe>lateral lobe>middle lobe,the VC content of Chinese cabbage in leaf was significantly higher than in stalk.The nitrate content of lateral lobe was always the highest,although there was not a rule can be followed.Through correlation analysis this study found that there was a negative correlation between the contents of nitrate and VC in 4 kinds of vegetables.With the prolonging of storage time,the nitrate contents of 4 kinds of vegetables were first increased then decreased,the nitrite contents were kept stable after increasing significantly.

23 Effect of Different Organic Substrate on Leaf Photosynthesis and Root ATPase Activity of Tomato

In this paper,the effects of different organic substrates on leaf photosynthesis and root ATPase activity of tomato using organic substrate culture added with corn stalk,wheat straw,mushroom residue,saw dust and dry dung were investigated.The results showed that tomato assimilation products were enhanced in organic substrates compared with the soil control.The photosynthetic rate,intracellular CO2 concentration and respiration rate were higher in organic substrate cultivation than control.Fv/Fm,ΦPSⅡ and qP were significantly increased in organic substrate cultivation.There was promotion effects of organic substrate cultivation on P-H+-ATPase,P-Ca2+-ATPase,V-H+-ATPase and V-Ca2+-ATPase activities.With higher tonoplast and plasma membrane ATPase activities,photosynthetic rate,intracellular CO2 concentration and Fv/Fm,ΦPSⅡ,qP,the photosynthetic efficiency and nutrient absorption of tomato cultivated in organic substrate were enhanced.As a result,tomato growth and its yield were greatly improved.

28 Effect of Concentrations of Cu2+,Zn2+ and Mn2+ Nutrient Solution on Chlorophyll Fluorescence Parameters of Cucumber Seedling Leaves under Low Temperature

The effects of different concentrations of Cu2+,Zn2+ and Mn2+ nutrient solution on chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of cucumber seedling leaves under low temperature were studied.The results showed that Fv/Fm,ΦPSⅡ of cucumber seedling leaves could been increased under low temperature when cucumber was treated by high concentrations of Cu2+,Zn2+ and Mn2+.This indicated that the photosynthetic apparatus of cucumber seedling leaves could been enhanced by increasing the concentrations of Cu2+,Zn2+ and Mn2+.

33 Effect of Pruned Methods on Photosynthesis and Distribution Pattern of Assimilate of Sweet Pepper in Solar

This paper studied the effects of 3 pruned methods(2 stems,3 stems and 4 stems pruned method)on

photosynthetic gas exchange parameters,transpiration and distribution pattern of assimilate.The result showed that

net photosynthetic rate(Pn),stomatal conductance(Gs),stomatal limitation value(Ls),transpiration rate(Tr)and water

use efficiency(WUE)were in upper leaves>in middle leaves>in lower leaves under 3 pruned methods.In middle or lower

leaves the decrease of Pn was considered as a result of non-stomata restriction.Compared with 2 stems pruned

method,the Tr in upper or middle leaves,and WUE in lower leaves of 3 or 4 stems pruned method increased.Under 3

pruned methods,the distribution pattern of assimilate to fruits was the highest,the next was to stems and leaves,and

the distribution of assimilate to root was the lowest.Compared with 2 stems pruned method,per plant yield and weight

of single fruit of sweet pepper were significantly increased under 3 or 4 stems pruned method.

38 Studies on Breeding for Genetic Male Sterile Line in Brassica rapa L.ssp.chinensis L.

A multiple allele inherited genetic male sterile line‘00S107’was used as a source of male sterility in

pakchoi.Methods of crossing and backcrossing were applied to transfer the male sterility to a male fertile line

‘CA123’.A new genetic male sterile line‘GMS001’with 100 % of male sterile plants was obtained.‘GMS001’was

similar to‘CA123’in horticultural characters.An excellent hybridized combination‘GMS001×D3’was developed,which

is uniform and superior to‘Huawang’in yield.

43 Effect of Foilar Plant Growth Substances Application on Potato Yield and Quality

In a field experiment,effects of three plant growth substances,Diethyl aminoethyl hexanoate(DTA-

6),Uniconazole(S3307)and SOD mimics(SODM)were studied on potato yield,quality and its root physiology through foliar

application at potato tuber expansion period.The results showed that compared to the control,SODM, DTA-6 and S3307

increased yield by 17.4 %,8.3 %,and 4.1 % respectively.SODM could increase the contents of starch,water-soluble

protein and sucrose.S3307 could increase the content of water-soluble protein.Three plant growth substances could

decrease the content of reduced sugar.The experiment draw the conclusion that three plant growth substances could

improve the quality,yield and activity of root metabolism,but SODM treatment had the best effect.

49 Studies on Optimal Applying Quantity of Fertilizer Specially Used for Eco-organic Soilless Eggplant Cultivation for Best Economic Efficiency

In the solar greenhouse,adopting eco-organic soilless cultivation model,the suitable dosage of specially

used fertilizer for eggplant was studied.The results showed that with the increase amount of this speeially used

fertilizer,the plant height,single fruit weight,yield per plant and average plot yield increased.But the production

increasing effect per unit fertilizer decreased.According to regression statistical analysis,the best fertilizer

applying quantity for eggplant was 0.098 kg·m-2(N 19 %,P2O5 6 %,K2O 25 %),the theoretical yield was 9.10 kg·m-2

(discount 91 t·hm-2).The results of statistical analysis inosculated with that of the field experiments.

53 Efficacy Trials of Bacillus Subtilis WP against Cucumber Gray Mold(Botrytis cinerea)

The antifungal effect of 1×1011 cfu·g-1 Bacillus Subtilis WP against cucumber gray mold(Botrytis

cinerea)tested by allied toxicity measurement and field efficacy trials.The result showed that Bacillus Subtilis WP

had good inhibitory effect on cucumber gray mold(Botrytis cinerea)with EC50 of 5.89×106 cfu·mL-1,which

indicated that it had the same effect with control insecticides Pyrimethanil.The same result was found in field

experiment.The efficacies of 0.08 g·m-2 Bacillus Subtilis and 0.11 g·m-2 control insecticides were 70.81 % and

77.40 %,respectively.

57 Investigation and Risk Evaluation about Safety and Vegetables Quality at Wholesale Market

Twenty pesticide residues in seven kinds of vegetables at wholesale markets in Cixi were investigated.The results indicated that the pesticide residues showed seasonal changes as higher in early year and lower in late year.The excessive rates of legume,fruit,stalk and leafy vegetables were higher than that of other vegetables.Pesticide residues of vegetables shipped from outside Zhejiang were lower than those produced locally.The safety indexes of vegetable quality were lower than 1 in the four quarters,and there was no safety risk.Acephate,fenvalerate,triazophos and omethoate were the primary factors affecting the safety of vegetables quality in Cixi.

62 Studies on the Origin of Brassica alboglabra Bailey

Brassica alboglabra Bailey belonns to Cruciferae.It is a vegetable of kale kind,such as cabbage,Chinese kale,savoy cabbage,brussels sprouts,kohlrabi and cauliflower,etc.As everybody knows kale came from wild cabbage grown in the areas of the Mediterranean Sea.However,there was another saying:kale came from both southern China and the Mediterranean Sea areas.According to the record of ancient literature in China,Brassica alboglabra Bailey originated from southern China.Early in the 5th and 6th Century AD,during the Northern and Southern Dynasties,the Brassica oleracea L.which could be eaten as vegetable came from its originated region through central Asia into China.It was called‘cabbage from the western world’.Thereafter,in Guangdong region under subtropical climate condition by gene mutation and through long period of artificial selection,it becomes Brassica alboglabra Bailey.Its tender leaves and flower buds are edible.Times for Brassica alboglabra Bailey originating was no later than 7th Century AD,when the Tang Dynasty was just starting.This saying was one century earlier than the prevalent talking.The author deems Brassica alboglabra Bailey is the mutation of Brassica oleracea L.Its scientific name should be Brassica oleracea var.alboglabra Bailey.Since Brassica alboglabra Bailey has no parental relation with mustard,its English name should be Chinese kale,which is better than Whiteglabrous mustara.

66 A New Variety of Eggplant —‘Xinqie No.6’

‘Xinqie No.6’was released first by crossing No.4 long eggplant inbred lines bred from‘Xinjiangchangqie

’with No.26 long eggplant inbred lines bred from Soviet Russia long eggplant,then followed by systematic breeding

involved in segregational populations.‘Xinqie No.6’presents strong growth vigor.The first flower grows at the 5-6

axilae,the fruits are long and slim with shining light violet red color.The average single fruit weight is 140 g.It

has stronger resistance to verticillium wilt than‘Xinjiangchangqie’.It can yield about 67.5-82.5 t·hm-2.It is

suitable to be cultivated under plastic shed or in open filed covered farm in early spring at Xinjiang.

68 A New Pumpkin F1 Hybrid—‘Ganxiangli’

‘Ganxiangli’is a new pumpkin F1 hybrid developed by crossing inbred line 03B811 and 03C417.It is early

maturity and grows vigorously.The first female flower starts from node 9-11.It takes 40 days from flowering to

harvest. The fruit is round and flat,dark green rind with green stripes,thick orange flesh,floury and sweet taste

with flavour of chestnut.Average fruit weight is about 1.5 kg.It yields 30.0-37.5 t·hm-2.It is suitable for

cultivation in open and protected fields in spring.

71 A New Kidney Bean Variety —‘Liannongwujin No.2’

‘Liannongwujin No.2’is a newly bred kidney bean variety developed by systematic selection after crossing

made in 4 parents of‘80-3 changjiangdou’,‘85-1’,‘Corrull49-242’and‘87 B’.It has the characteristics of

trailing plant with green flat-shape pod.The length of pod is 22 cm,the width is 1.5-2.0 cm and the weight per pod

is about 23.0 g.It is resistant to rust and mid-resistant to anthracnose.Its yield is about 4.6 t·hm-2,3.3 t·hm-

2,3.75 t·hm-2 and 4.8 t·hm-2,respectively in open field in spring and autumn,protected field in spring and

winter.It is suitable for cultivation in open field in spring and autumn,protected field in spring,autumn and winter

in northern China.

74 A New Carrot F1 Hybrid Cultivated in Spring —‘Tianhong No.5’

A new F1 hybrid variety of carrot‘Tianhong No.5’was selected by using males sterile three-line

methods.Its female parent is HLBcms005 and male parent is HLBm005.The plants grow upward and strongly.The plant high

is about 62 cm with 10 leaves.Its fleshy roots are uniform,of column shape.The average root length is 14.47 cm.The

root width is 4.06 cm and average root weight is 106.92 g.Its carotene content amounts to 70.28 mg·kg-1(FW).The

soluble solid content is 9.11 %.Its growing period is 100-105 days.The average yield is 48 t·hm-2.There are 420

000-450 000 plants per hm2.It is suitable for spring sowing,the bolting percentage is 0.26 %.
