Abstract ‘Xincong No. 5’ is a new variety of Jitui welsh onion bred by the technique of multiparents and ulti-crossing and through years of systematic selec tion and breeding．This new variety gathered good genes from several parents and possessed many outstanding characteristics. The plant height is 95-100 cm with 35-40 cm fistular onion stalk．The diameter of middle stem is 2.5-3.0 cm and that of bottem stem is 6-7 cm．Its leave blades are green in color．There are 6-8 functional leave blades during growing stage．Its average yield is over 75 t ·hm-2．It is suitable to be cultivated in Henan，Hebei，Shanxi and Shandong Provinces，etc.
