Abstract Plants’ flowering and bolting were induced by vernalization in their early growth stage. This process resulted in the impossible forming of the leaf head. This phenomenon is known as premature bolting which has caused a great loss in vegetable production. The most effective solution to solve this problem is to develop bolting-resistant varieties. Research on genetic mechanism of bolting trait helps to breed bolting-resistant varieties. The essay summarizes the research progress on genetic mechanism, molecular marker and molecular mechanism of bolting trait in Brassica vegetables. It also discusses about the prospects of future research works, according to present research status
