Abstract The experiments on effect of different organic fertilizers on nitrate accumulation in lettuce were carried out in both open field and plastic tunnel. The results indicated that different organic fertilizers significantly affected the accumulation of nitrate in lettuce in both open field and plastic tunnel, lowest nitrate content occured in treatmants with cattle manure and well-composted chook manure, while bean cake and pig manure increased nitrate content as compared with the control.
