30 Identification and Evaluation of Sensitivity to Exogenous Calcium in Different Genotypes of Chinese Cabbage
WANG Li-li,LUAN Zhao-shui,XU Kun,CAO Bi-li Hot!

In order to probe convenient indexes for identifying Chinese cabbage〔Brassica campestris
L. ssp. pekinensis(Lour)Olsson〕calcium sensibility, this paper took 20 varieties of Chinese cabbage as test
material, and studied the effects of different calcium levels on leaf tip burn index at different growth stages of
Chinese cabbage and plant growth, leaf chlorophyll content, leaf calcium content. The results showed that there
were bigger differences in the leaf tip burn indexes among Chinese cabbage of different genotypes.Generally, the
leaf tip burn index decreased obviously with the increase of calcium levels. While,it increased with the extension
of growth period under the same calcium level.Clustering analysis indicated that Chinese Cabbage leaf tip burn
index of seedling stage at the calcium level 0 mmol·L-1 was consistent with that of rosette and knot stage at
calcium level 0.5 mmol·L-1.The leaf tip burn index regression model established by regression analysis indicated
that only the relative fresh weight and relative leaf chlorophyll content of plants treated at the seedling stage with
calcium levels of 0.5 mmol·L-1 and 4.0 mmol·L-1 were selected. Results of clustering analysis using the selected
variables as parameters were consistent with those of the leaf tip burn index of seedling stage by clustering analysis.
Both clusters could classify Chinese cabbages into 3 categories:calcium sensitive, dullness, and intermediate
type. All these data suggested that the relative fresh weight and relative leaf chlorophyll content of plants treated
with calcium levels of 0.5 mmol·L-1 and 4.0 mmol·L-1 at the seedling stage could be used as convenient criteria
to identify calcium resistant Chinese cabbage varieties.

36 Studies on Selection of Substrate Formula of Cassava Slag for Fruit and Vegetable Seedlings
JI Yu-fei,ZHANG Xia,XU Yong-zhong,XIA Ying-ping,GUO Shi-rong

Abstract:Taking mature cassava slag as main raw material, mixing it with peat, vermiculite and perlite
by different volume ratios into 12 substrate ratios, this paper studied the physical and chemical properties of
different matrix ratios and their effects on the seedling growth of different kinds of fruit and vegetable taking finished
vegetable seedling substrate in the market as the contrast. The paper also screened out seedling substrate formulas
suitable for the growth of cucumber, tomato and watermelon. The results showed that the physical and chemical
properties of compound matrix of cassava slag, peat, vermiculite and perlite in the ratio of 40∶40∶10∶10(T5
treatment)and 20∶40∶20∶20(T6 treatment)were within the suitable range of seedling growth requirements
for fruit and vegetable. The seedling emergence rate, seedling index, chlorophyll content, root activity,
root volume, root tip number and other growth indicators of fruit and vegetables grown in the 2 matrix formulas
were better than that of the other formulas and contrast.According to the growth condition of fruit and vegetable
seedlings, combined with environmental and economic factors,it is recommended to use T5 treatment with higher
proportion of cassava residues as a special formula for cucumber seedlings in production.While,T6 treatment
can be used as a general formula for fruit and vegetable.

44 Studies on Photoperiod Characteristics of Flowering Changsha Water Spinach (Ipomoea aquatica
PIAO Li-xi,LIU Juan,AI Xin,DAI Si-hui

Taking unable blossom Changsha water spinach(Ipomoea aquatica)under natural growth
condition as test material, this paper measured the critical photoperiod, limited inductive photoperiod and juvenile
phase of Changsha water spinach by light transfer method. The results showed that the critical photoperiod of
Changsha water spinach was 12 hours light/12 hours dark, limited inductive photoperiod was 16 days, and the
juvenile phase of Changsha water spinach would terminate at 4-leaf stage.Additionally, when the dark period of
photoperiod sustained to 13 hours,it was more conducive to the flower bud differentiation in Changsha water spinach.
While the differentiated flower bud would be reversed,if the induced photoperiod was less than limited inductive
photoperiod. These results indicated that Changsha water spinach was strictly an obligatory short-day plant.

GENG Shu-wen,ZHANG Ying,LIU Fu-zhong,CHEN Yu-hui,LIAN Yong

Taking dome eggplant and apex eggplant as parents, this study built 6 generations colony( P1
P2,F1,BC1P1,BC1P2,F2),and planted them in spring open fields and autumn greenhouse as 2 crops for
rotation, respectively. The paper collect the apex shape data of eggplant fruit by ocular estimate method and
Tomato Analyzer software analysis method, and applied multiple generation combination analysis method on plant
quantitative trait major gene + multiple gene hybrid genetic model to carry out genetic analysis on eggplant fruit
apex shape. The results showed that both ocular estimate and software methods could be used to describe the
eggplant fruit apex shape. We found that the AIC value calculated by Tomato Analyzer software analysis method
for eggplant fruit apex shape data had good integrity, the number of significant statistics in adaptive detection was
less, the measurement on data of eggplant fruit apex shape was more accurate. Thus,Tomato Analyzer software
analysis method was more suitable for collecting characters of eggplant frnit apex shape. The characters of eggplant
fruit apex shape were quantitative trait, controlled by 2 pairs of additive-dominant-epistasis major genes, and
also influenced by environmental conditions. In the isolated population, the genetic rate of major gene of F2
population was high and stability was good. The genetic rate of major gene was over 72%.So,it is suitable to
carry out selection on fruit apex shape traits among F2 colony during breeding process.

XU Dan-dan,ZHANG You-jun,WANG Huai-song,WANG Shao-li

In order to compare the anti-aphid melon varieties,7 varieties were compared by combination of
preference selection on leaf discs in laboratory and the population dynamics on plants in the open field. The results
showed that differences of feeding and oviposition preferences of Aphis gossypii Glover have been observed among
the 7 melon cultivars. The aphids on‘ Yangjiaomi’ and‘ IVF437’ were lower(2-3 aphids),with the choice
rate of 5.54%-7.38% after 2 hours feeding.After 12 hours,there were 5.50 and 14.00 nymph aphids observed on
‘Yangjiaomi’ and‘ IVF437’,respectively,showing that the preferences for‘ Yangjiaomi’ and‘ IVF437’ of A.
gossypii
were significantly lower than that of the other varieties.Same trend were observed for the choice trial on
leaf discs after 24 hours. In addition, the population of A. gossypii increased continuously on 7 melon plants and
the aphids on‘ IVF437’ plants were 827.00 after 15 days,exhibiting the lowest quantities.In conclusion,‘IVF437’
and‘ Yangjiaomi’ had higher anti-aphid traits than the rest tested varieties in this study. The results will provide
scientific basis for the plantation and breeding of melon aphid-resistant varieties.
