15 Present Status Survey and Countermeasure of Applying Fertilizer to Main Vegetable Types in Anhui Province

An investigation on vegetable fertilization in 2012 and 2013 was carried out in Anhui Province using sampling survey method,and the present status and existing problems of fertilization were analized and studied.The result indicated that there were 26 common vegetable species planted by surveyed househods in Anhui Province,among them 6 vegetables(pepper,tomato,cucumber,Chinese cabbage,cauliflower and eggplant) planted mostly by peasant households,were the main vegetable types in Anhui Province,which accounted for 52.1% and 67.4% of the total households number and vegetable acreage,respectively. Chemical fertilizers were applied in all farmlands,organic fertilizer only took 30.4%.The applications of nitrogen fertilizer all exceeded 300 kg·hm-2 in these 6 vegetables,and the average ration of N∶P2O5∶K2O was 1∶0.46∶0.49. There were big differences in organic fertilizer application among 6 vegetables.The average fertilizer applying frequency was 3.2 times in the whole vegetable growth period. The result also showed that cucumber yield was the highest,eggplant had the highest output value,and vegetable output value had significant positive correlation with fertilizer input. We should improve the current fertilizer applying technology,and speed up the application of soil testing and fertilizer recommendation technology in vegetable production.

19 Benefit-Cost Analysis Of Rural Household Planting Vegetables in Hainan Province——Based on Rural Household Survey from 6 Counties

This paper analyzes the production benift-cost for 5 vegetables: green pepper,cowpea,
cucumber,bitter gourd and Chinese wax gourd based on the rural household survey data in Hainan Province. The paper also compares the above benift-cost with the cost and benefit of vegetable production in large and medium sized cities all over China,so as to understand the advantages and disadvantages of vegetable production in Hainan Province. The results show that:(1) Small households mainly depend on labor of family members at their own land to grow vegetables. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are the major costs.(2) Production costs and benefits of different vegetable production are significantly different. The production cost of cowpea is the highest,that of green pepper,cucumber and bitter gourd follows;the cost of Chinese wax gourd is relatively lower,the input of pesticide and chemical fertilizer is less;while the net revenues of cucumber and Chinese wax gourd are relatively high.(3) The major advantages of planting vegetables in Hainan are lower production cost,and higher vegetable prices in winter.(4) However,compared with the national average level,vegetable yield per unit area in Hainan is still low. There are many difficulties in controlling pest and diseases. The paper suggests that the government should guide the farmers how to use pesticides and chemical fertilizer rationally,reduce costs and input,set up rands of their own agricultural products,and upgrade the products’ quality,etc. The paper also suggests the government to do more work to solve bottlenecks limiting vegetable industry development in Hainan,to further improve vegetable industry development level,and to increase farmers’ income as well.

24 Review on Studying Efficiency Mechanism of Domestic Vegetable Production and Circulation

Currently domestic studies on vegetable production and circulation issues have gained abundant achievements,the related research areas have not only confined to the category of economics,the use of management science,sociology and other subject disciplines has made research activities to demonstrate obvious feature of interdiscipline. Based on different views on efficiency mechanism of vegetable production and circulation,this paper combes vegetable production cost and benefit,efficiency of vegetable production,vegetable circulation mode,selection and integration of circulation channels,vegetable circulation efficiency,vegetable circulation in the process of price formation mechanism,etc.with the achievements gained in studying the efficiency mechanism of vegetable production and circulation,and points out the shortages in present research,and prospects the future study.

30 Effects of Molybdenum Deficiency on Cold Resistance and Its Relationship with Antioxidant System in Cucumber Seedlings

In order to investigate the mechanism of molybdenum deficiency on chilling tolerance in cucumber( Cucumis sativus L.) seedlings,this paper takes‘Jinyou No.3’ cucumber seedlings as test material,and sets up 2 treatments:molybdenum deficiency(-Mo) and molybdenum application(CK). The low temperature treatment (day/night temperature of 8 ℃ /5 ℃) was carried out in light growth chamber. The effects of molybdenum deficiency on chilling injury index,MDA content,antioxidant enzyme activities,and osmoregulation substances of cucumber seedlings were studied. The results showed that under low temperature -Mo treatment,the electrolyte leakage(EL),chilling injury index,and MDA content of cucumber seedlings were all significantly higher than that of the CK;while the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase(APX),and contents of glutathione(GSH),and ascorbic acid(AsA) in cucumber seedlings were significantly lower than that of the CK. The contents of proline,soluble sugar,soluble protein and free amino acids were all lower than that of the control. These results suggest that molybdenum deficiency aggravates chilling damage to the membrane,and reduces the cold resistance of cucumber seedlings. The reduction in antioxidant abilities and osmotic self-regulation of -Motreatment are the important reasons for cold tolerance weakening of cucumber seedlings.

36 Effects of Priming Treatment on Storage and Longevity of Tomato Seed

Tomato( Solanum lycopersicum L.) seeds were primed with 30% PEG and 3% KNO3 solution,respectively.After this treatment,seeds germination rate and synchronization were improved.Then these primed seeds were stored at room temperature.Their germination power,germination rate and germination index were tested periodically during 5.5 years when they were preserved.The results showed that the priming effect of PEG treated seed was maintained during preservation period,and the seeds did not show the tendency of deteriorating faster than the untreated seeds.Accelerated aging experiment was carried out on all primed seeds.The result indicated that PEG primed seeds showed more antideterioration ability than those untreated seeds and KNO3 primed seeds.The germination characters of seeds treated with priming after deterioration and with deterioration after priming were compared.The result indicated that the deterioration after priming treatment had lesser influence on seed vigor.

41 Isolation,  Indentification and Evaluation for Nematicidal Activity of Actinomycetes Against Plant Nematode Meloidogyne incognita

A strain H-2 was isolated by diluted solution method from soybean continuous cropping soil sample,its morphological,physiological and biochemical characteristics were identified and 16S rDNA was analyzed. The result showed that it was Streptomyces parvus. Fermentation filtrates of Streptomyces parvus at different concentrations were evaluated for nematicidal activity against Meloidogyne incognita and Rhabditis sp. in laboratory. Fermentation filtrates of the strains could suppress the egg hatching and 2nd-instar larvae of Meloidogyne incognita. Culture filtrates of Strain H-2 showed a weak level of nematicidal activity of free-living Rhabditis sp. The corrected mortality rate of Meloidogyne incognita egg hatching and 2nd-instar larvae reached 74.35% and
78.46%,respectively by, strain H-2 at 5 diluted solution.

45 Effects of Half No-tillage Cultivation on Tomato Growth

To explore the effect of half no-tillage cultivation on growth of tomato( Solanum lycopersicum L.),this paper took‘Fugui No.6’ as test material and measured 7 indexes of above-ground part vegetable growth,including:plant height,weight of stems,number of blades,weight of leaves and root biomass,root distribution and root shoot ratio,respectively.Then comparative analysis was carried out between half no-tillage cultivation and traditional cultivation.Results showed as follows:(1) No matter from transplanting to removing the shoot apex,or after removing the shoot apex,the plant height,weight of stems,number of blade and leaf weight of tomato by half no-tillage cultivation were all significantly superior than that by traditional cultivation.(2) Root biomass of the whole plant and that between soil layers of 0 to 20 cm by half no-tillage cultivation was also superior to that by traditional cultivation,and the root distribution tended to shallow soil layer apparently.

49 Effects of Different Nitrogen and Organic Manure Application on Infection Potential and Spatial Distribution of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Greenhouse Tomato Cropping System

The present study targeted in the long-term experiment in a greenhouse tomato( Solanum lycopersicum L.)double-cropping system in Shandong Province. We collected soil from different soil layers of the plots,identified AMF spore community,and established the bioassay in the greenhouse. The results showed that there were still certain amount of AM fungi in the greenhouse vegetable fields,although different nutrient inputs changed soil AM fungal community composition by a certain degree. AM fungal infectivity was greatly reduced by high amount of fertilizer use no significant differences were found in spatial distribution of AM fungi among different soil layers.

54 Effect of Different Water and Fertilizer Supply on Wild Cabbage Yield,Quality, Water and Fertilizer Use Efficiency

Taking wild cabbage( Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata L.) cultivar ‘Jingyu No.1’as test material,studied the effects of different water and fertilizer supplies on yield,quality,water and nitrogen use efficiencies of wild cabbage cultivated in north west area of China.The results showed that compared with the tranditional irrigation,10% irrigation(1 960 m3·hm-2)were reduced,20% fertilizer(N 304 kg·hm-2,P2O4 kg·hm-2,K 72 kg·hm-2)were saved,the contents of VC,soluble sugar and free aminoacid of wild cabage in the treatment were higher,while the nitrate content was lower.The treatment was significantly superior than the local tradition irrigation and fertilizer treatments.The water use efficiency was higher and apparent nitrogen use efficiency was the highest.The economic yield and biomass yield was 91 t·hm-2 and 132 t·hm-2,respectively.
Although there were no significant differences with the local tradition irrigation and fertilizer treatment,it had the advantages of saving water,saving fertilizer,and protecting environment.Comprehensive evaluation indicated that this combined treatment could reduce 10% irrigation and save 20% fertilizer,was a better water and fertilizer supplying scheme appropriate for local wild cabbage growth and fit to be extended in areas with similar conditions.

60 A New Long Purple Eggplant F1 Hybrid—‘ Longzaqie No.8’

‘Longzaqie No.8’ is a F1 hybrid of long purple eggplant,developed by crossing 93-102 as female parent and 95-17 as male parent. It has strong growth vigor,semi-erect plant type,and moderate leave stretch. Its plant height ranges from 80-85 cm. Its leaf blades were thick and dark green in color. Its stem was thick and strong. The fruit is of rod-like shape with 22-24 cm in length and about 5 cm in diameter. Its single fruit weight is about 170 g. Its fruit peel is atropurpureus,and has good lustrousness. It is resistance to aging. The fruit pulp is green-white with moderate hardness and high quality. Its yield is 52.5-67.5 t·hm-2. It is suitable for planting in Heilongjiang,Jilin,Liaoning Provinces,and Inner Mongolia in summer and autumn.

62 A New Pink Tomato FHybrid —‘ Zhengfan 1037’

‘Zhengfan 1037’ is a new tomato F1 hybrid developed by crossing inbred line 10A9 qingjing stem as female parent and 10Y153-hun 1 as male parent. It is of early maturity,and belongs to unlimited growth type. It grows vigorously,and has mideum leaf number. Its leaf is dark green in color and flat in shape. The first flower sets at the 6th node,and the inflorescence interval is 3 leaves. Each inflorescence has 5-6 flowers. It has continues fruit setting ability. The tender fruit has light green shoulder,the mature fruit is of round shape with pink color. Its single fruit weight is 150 g with 4.9% soluble solid content. It can yield 93.45 t·hm-2. It has higher resistant to TMV and leaf mold than the control‘Dongnong 712’in field. It is suitable to be planted in protected and open fields in spring and autumn.

64 A New Welsh Onion Variety—‘ Qingza No.2’

‘Qingza No.2’ is a three-line hybrid welsh onion variety, developed by crossing male sterile single 08qingA6-1 with inbred line 06-25-12-3. The plant grows with high speed and uniformity. Its leaves are erect and dark green in color. It has 6 tubular shaped leaves with thick wax powder layer on its surface. It is resistant to lodging. The stalk is 55-70 cm in length and 4.0-4.5 cm in diameter. The single plant weight is 0.45-0.55 kg. The scallion stalk is dense in texture, crisp, tender and tastes sweet. The yield is over 97.5 t·hm-2. Its resistance to alternaria leaf spot, virus disease and downy mildew is stronger than that of the CK‘Hanfengjucong’. It has strong resistance to cold and tolerance to heat. It can be planted all year round and is an ideal variety as green onion. It is suitable for cultivation in large areas of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Liaoning Provinces.

67 A New Cauliflower Cultivar —‘ Chunxue No.1’

‘Chunxue No.1’ is a new facility cultivated spring cauliflower CMS cultivar developed by crossing 10ZF-250 as female parent and 10ZF-48 as male parent. Its maturity takes about 60 days. The plant is oferect type and has strong growth vigor. Its curds are well protected by leaves. The curd is white, smooth and compact. The single curd weight is about 0.92 kg. Its yield is 40.05 t· hm-2. It is suitable for spring cultivation in facilities in North China.
