chlorophyllin-iron solution at cucumber(
Cucumis sativus
L.)seedling leaves on the plant growth, contents of proline, soluble sugar,MDA and activity of peroxidase under nitrate stress. The results showed that exogenous spraying chlorophyllin-iron solution at leaves could relieve the inhibition of nitrate on cucumber seedling growth, decrease the contents of proline, soluble sugar,MDA,and increase the activities of SOD,POD,CAT and APX. Eexogenous spraying chlorophyllin-iron could to certain extent reduce the accumulation of active oxygen in leaves under nitrate stress, restrain lipid peroxidation, and therefore relieve the damage of nitrate stress on cucumber seedlings.

-N were 3∶7). The same volumes of water were added as the control. The results showed that cucumber seedling dry weight and fresh weight of the N treatments were both higher than the CK,especially the N3 treatment was obviously higher than that of N1,N2 treatments and the CK. The microorganism population of N3 and N4 treatments was higher, among which the population of bacteria and actinomyces were higher than that of N1 treatment and the CK,while the fungus amount was lower than that of all other treatments. N2 treatment had the highest activities of soil urease and neutral phosphatase. N3 treatment had significantly higher soil dehydrogenase activity than the other treatments. In all treatments the catalase activity was significantly lower than that of the CK. Thus, the conclution: applying nitrogen fertilizer could increase cucumber dry weight, fresh weight, microorganism population and enhance the enzyme activity. Increasing the ratio of nitrate nitrogen could increase cucumber dry weight, fresh weight, soil bacteria and actinomyces population, and also enhance the soil dehydrogenase activity. While increasing the ratio of ammonium nitrogen could increase soil fungi amount, and enhance activities of urease and neutral phosphatase. Comprehensive evaluation showed that N3 treatment had the best result in greenhouse cucumber cultivation,i.e. the ratio of NH

Effect of Nano-devices on Lettuce Growth and Quality
LI Gui-Lian-.Chen-Ri-Yuan-.Liu-Hou-Cheng-.Song-Shi-Wei, SUN Guang-Wen
Lettuce(
Lactuca sativa
L. ) was used as material for investigating the effects of different treatment times(0 h,2 h,8 h,24 h)of nano-devices on growth and quality. The results indicated that the shoot fresh weight and dry weight of T3 treatment(24 h)were increased by 14.57% and 22.48%,respectively, but T1 treatment(2 h)and T2 treatment(8 h)treatments had no significant effects.Compared with the control, there were no significant differences on stem width and root and shoot ratio between 3 treatments. But in treatment T3,the leaf blade numbers were increased significantly, the contents of soluble sugar and flavonoid of lettuce were increased, the content of soluble protein decreased slightly. The contents of nitrate decreased obviously with the increase of treatment time. The decreasing ampitude is 2.05%-62.14%.Under this experiment conditions, the 24 h treatment time of nano-devices has the best effect for improving lettuce growth and quality.

Studies on Allelopathic Effect of Cinnamic Acid on Tomato
WANG Ru-Hua, QU Guang-Feng, ZHANG Qi-Fa, LI Dan-Dan, LIU Fang, QIN Zhen-Hua
The effect of cinnamic acid on tomato(
Lycopersicon esculentum
Mill.)seed germination, seedling growth and physiological characteristics was studied by soaking seed and root-irrigation methods. The results showed that different cinnamic acid concentrations inhibited the tomato seed germination and seedling growth in different degrees. The inhibition effect of low cinnamic acid concentration was weak, while its impacting effect was strong, especially with 4.0 mmol·L
-1
concentration treatment. The allelopathic effect of cinnamic acid on tomato germination was obvious larger than on seedling growth. At the same time, cinnamic acid had negative impact on physiological activities of tomato seedlings, especially the 4.0 mmol·L
-1
concentration treatment increased significantly the soluble sugar content in tomato leaf blades, and reduced the root activity of tomato seedlings.

) were designed. The results showed that the root system growth, fresh weights of garlic plant, bolt and bulb, and root system activity all rose with the increase of silicon concentration from 0 to 1.50 mmol·L
-1
,but fell while the silicon content reached 1.50 mmol·L
-1
. At the same time, the pigment content, net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance of leaves also increased first and then decreased with the increase of silicon content from 0 to 3.00 mmol·L
-1
.They reached the highest when silicon concentration was 1.50 mmol·L
-1
. While the change trend of transpiration was just the opposite. It reached the minimum value at Si 1.50 mmol·L
-1
and was reduced by 17.78% compared with the treatment without silicon.

Correlation and Path Analysis of Main Agronomic Characters and Yield of Seed Lotus
ZHU Hong-Lian, KE Wei-Dong, LIU Yu-Ping, PENG Jing, HUANG Lai-Chun, ZHOU Kai
Correlation and path analysis was carried on the main agronomic characters and yield of seven seed lotus(
Nelumbo nucifera
Gaertn) cultivars. The results showed that the degree of correlation between eleven major characters and yield was:receptacle number>receptacle diameter>single fresh seed weight>single fresh receptacle weight>average carpel number>fresh seed width>seed setting rate>petiole diameter>fresh seed length>leaf long radius>petiole height. Among them, receptacle number, receptacle diameter and single fresh seed weight were significant or very significant positive correlation with seed lotus yield. Based on the path analysis results, receptacle number, single fresh receptacle weight, seed setting rate and average carpel number had direct effect on seed lotus yield. The receptacle diameter, fresh seed length, fresh seed width, petiole diameter had indirect effect on yield. Other characters like petiole height, leaf long radius and single fresh seed weight had both direct and indirect effects on seed lotus yield. Based on the above analysis, the principle breeding objectives were to improve the receptacle numbers, single fresh receptacle weight, average carpel number and seed setting rate per unite area. And the secondary objectives were increasing the receptacle diameter, single fresh seed weight and well coordinating the relationship between them.
