16 Suppression Mechanism of Meloidogyn incognita Infection on Cucumber by Soil Amendments
WANG Ze1, LIU Qi-zhi1*, ZHOU Hai-ying2, LIANG Li-ping2
The observation and comparing of soil amendment(SA, the main ingredients come from insect body and its metabolic production, developed by authors’laboratory)effect on histopathology features in cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)‘Qianqiu No.1’radicle tissue infected by root-knot nematodes(RKN, Meloidogyn incognita)with methods of acid fuchsin staining and paraffin section were carried out in this study. The results demonstrated that after 7 days of RKN inoculation and SA treatment, the cucumber growth indicators, giant cell(GC)quantity and morphology had no significant differences with or without SA. However, after 15 days, the total area of cucumber leaves, over-ground part of plant fresh weight and root length in SA treatment were increased about 1/3; the number of root-knot per 10 cm root length was reduced down 1/2. GC became wizened and vacuolated with SA treatment and became hypertrophic without SA treatment. It showed that SA does not prevent RKN finding and infecting root system, but effect on wizened and vacuolated GC formation, which cause RKN food shortage in the GC, by which, the crop capacity against RKN was enhanced.

WANG Hui1, LIAO Yong-cui1, 2, XU Dong-hui1, SUN Ri-fei1, WU Jian1, WANG Xiao-wu1*
The glucosinolate profile and accumulation of 64 Brassca campestris L. ssp. chinensis(L.)Makino var. communis Tsen et Lee DH lines grown in different seasons were analyzed with high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). Eight main glucosinolates(3 aliphatics, 4 indoles and 1 aromatic)were detected in all accessions. The aliphatic glucosinolates were the most dominant glucosinolates in pack choi with the highest ratio of above 80 %, and gluconapin(NAP)is about 50 %, in addition, 1 accession with low glucosinolate was detected. Coefficient variability index in each aliphatic glucosinolate was more than 100 %. Correlations analysis between individual glucosinolates showed that the correlation of aliphatic, aromatic and total glucosinolate was all significant or very significant respectively between the 2 seasons. Variance analysis on glucosinolate accumulation showed that there were very significant differences among genotypes in aliphatic, aromatic and total glucosinolate among genotypes in the 2 seasons. Combined variance analysis indicated that there were no significant differences among genotypes in indole glucosinolates, and season×variety interaction was identified in many glucosinolate.
