4 The Effects of Storage Temperatures on the Qualities of Broccoli

The effects of storage temperatures on the qualities of broccoli ( Brassica oleracea. var. italica P.) packaged with 0.03mm PE were studied. The results showed that the senescence of broccoli stored at 16℃ was very fast;the content of total soluble protein,total acids,vitamin C and chlorophyll decreased rapidly;on the 3rd day of storage,the yellowing rate was 5.0%,weight loss was 12.2% and the broccoli almost lost eating quality. 5 Influence of Temperature and Humidity on Population growth of the Experimental Liriomyza sativae

The experiment showed that the temperature was significant influence on the life cycle of Li riomyza sativae Blanchard,but the humidity was not. The relationship between the development rate and the temperature accorded with logistic curve. The developmental zero temperatures of eggs,larvae,pupae and the whole generation were 10.01,9.7,10.2 and 9.76℃ with the effective accumulated temperatures were 65.26,80.7,147.96 and 298.33℃,respectively. 6 Effects of Grafting on the Resistance to Verticillium Wilt and on the Biological Characteristics of Eggplant

A cultivated eggplant variety Qiyeqie as scion was grafted on 5 wild Solanum species as rootstock respectively. The effects of graft on resistance to Verticillium dahliae and on biological characteristics of eggplant were studied. The results demonstrated that there was high affinity between every rootstock of 5 wild species and scion,all the survival rate of grafted plant was above 95%. 7 Effect of Grafting on Muskmelon Yield and Its’s Disease Resistance

Muskmelon was grafted on blackseed pumpkin ( Cucurbita ficifolia ) to control melon fusarium wilt. The controlling effectiveness was 95.4% in field. The seedlings grown in substracte were better for graf ting as compared with those grown in soil. Yield enhancement of grafted melon was mainly in late stage and it enhanced 75.9%-112.3%.

8 Effect of Ethylene on Growth Development and Seed Yield of Balsam Pear
Deng Xianchao;Li Xiaoyi
The experiment on treating balsam pear plant using different concentration of ethylene at diffe rent growth stage with different treating times was conducted. The results showed that spraying 120-180mg·L -1 of ethylene increased the leaf area and stem diameter,shortened the internodal length,increased significantly fruit and seed yield of balsam pear.

10 Breeding of a New Hot Pepper F 1 Hybrid — ‘Yuejiao No.1’

Yuejiao No.1 is a new hot pepper F 1 hybrid developed by crossing hot pepper No.56 as male parent with sweet pepper No.54 as female parent.Fruit size is 15cm×4.4cm with average fruit weight of 47g,0.32cm thick wall,3 lobe,medium hot and dark green color. Plants is vigorous,high resistance to southern bacterial wilt and virus. It takes 103 days in spring and 82 days in fall from sowing to harvesting. The yield is 23.5t·hm -2 .

11 Breeding of a New Pepper F 1 Hybrid — ‘Layou No.4’

Layou No.4’ is a hot pepper F 1 hybrid developed by excellent inbred 33 crossing with inbred 30. It is early maturity,resistance to phytophthora blight,southern bacterial and mosaic virus. The yield is 24-42t·hm -2 . Average fruit weight is 35-50g. Fruits are long with smooth green skin,good quality and high marketable percentage. It has been extended to Guangdong,Guangxi,Jiangxi,Hainan and Hunan etc.,with a total area of 800hm 2.

12 Breeding of New Early maturity Pepper — ‘Danjiao No.2’

Danjiao No.2’ is a new pepper F 1 hybrid by crossing two inbred lines of CP 1 and CP 2. It has an early maturity and high resistance to pepper diseases. Fruits are blocky with dark green colour,thick wall and good taste. The early yield is 18t·hm -2 and total yield is 61.5t·hm -2 . It is suitable to be grown in protected field and has been extended to Liaoning,Jilin,Chifeng,Xinjiang,etc. with total area of 1400hm 2.
