The physiological and biochemical items variations of different eggplant varieties under the heat stress, were studied in the experiment and the velated indexes were screened. The membrane damage extent under high temperature, proline content, transpiration rate and root activity were suggested as the select indexes for the heat-tolerance breeding.

7 Effects of Nitrogen Supply Levels on Greenhouse Tomato Growth and Nitrogen Utilization in Beijing Region

The effect of different nitrogen supply levels on tomato growth and nitrogen utilization were studied in the greenhouse of Beijing region in spring. The results showed that the marketable yield was highest when nitrogen applied rate was 225 kg·hm~(-2). However, the tomato yield decreased with applied N rate increasing. 10 Effects of Deficit Irrigation on Dry Matter Distribution and Fruit Quality of Tomato in Protected Cultivation

Liaoyuanduoli and Hongyu cherry tomato were used and four irrigation treatments were with 2,4,6 and 8 d intervals to irrigate, respectively. The results indicated that the soluble sugars, organic acid and the ratio of sugars/acid were increased in ripe fruit under water deficit, while the dry matter accumulation of plant increased and the growth of root was stimulated. 13 Pattern of Potassium Accumulating in Stem Mustard

The pattern of potassium accumulation in stem mustard F_1 hybrid(JL92-3A×JL155)was studied. The result indicated that the potassium accumulation in various organs met Logistic growth curve. Peak period of potassium accumulation in root was at 11.9-16.1 leaf age, in leaf was at 12.1-17.3 leaf age, in stem was at 14.4-17.9 leaf age. During the peak period of potassium accumulation, plant accumulated amount of potassium which accounted for over 65 % of whole growth stage.

With sucrose concentration increasing, the height of tube-ginger plant decreased, while propagation coefficient significantly increased. Jiangshu No. 2 is a new middle-early maturing slight-hot-pepper F_1 hybrid developed by excellent inbreed 93018 crossing with inbreed 92162. It is resistant to TMV and anthracnose, and is tolerant to CMV. It is horn shaped, 60 g in weight, with smooth skin, slight pungent. The average yield is 52.5 t·hm~(-2). It is suitable to cultivate in both protected and open field. It has been extended in Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, and Hainan provinces.

20 A New Eggplant F_1 Hybrid — Heibei No. 1

Heibei No. 1 is an excellent eggplant F_1 hybrid developed by crossing lines 98-24 with 98-8. It has vigorous growth, excellent merchandise quality and edible quality, low temperature tolerance, and transportation endurance. Its fruit is ball-shaped, purple-dark, and the index of fruit shape is about 0.93. The average fruit weight is 580 g. Heibei No. 1 is suitable for greenhouse and plastic tunnel cultivation in winter and autumn, and open field cultivation in the North China.

22 A New Cauliflower F_1 Hybrid — Xiahua No. 6

Xiahua No.6 is a new cauliflower F_1 hybrid developed by two self-incompatible lines. It has heat-tolerance, early maturity ranging from 50 to 55 days, multi-disease resistance, and suitable to be cultivated in both summer and autumn. The curd is white, semicircle, partly loose, with green stalk. Average curd weight is 0.50 - 0.85 kg. The yield is 30-45t. hm~(-2) and 20.5% higher than the control variety.

25 A New Sweet Corn F_1 Hybrid— Fengtian No. 1

Fengtian No. 1 is a middle maturity sweet corn F_1 hybrid developed by crossing line PY7 with line PB11. The F_1 hybrid has vigorous growth, and resistances to leaf spot, dwarf mosaic virus and stalk rot. The cylindrical ear is about 287 g in weight and 20.47 cm in length. The kernels are golden yellow, uniform and crisp with 17.65 % soluble sugar. The yield is about 13.5 t·hm~(-2). It is suitable for cultivation in spring and autumn in South China.

Chunyu No. 1 is a new and eady-maturing summer squash F_1 hybrid bred by crossing vivid green skin summer squash inbred line 9795 Qing-2 with white skin summer squash inbred line 007-30-1-1. It has vigorous growth, and long rhomboid fruits with vivid white skin. Its yield is about 72 t·hm~(-2) under protected cultivation and 11.4 % - 14.3 % higher than that of Zaoqing Yidai(CK). It has been extended in Shanxi, Gansu, Hebei provinces.
