4 Comparison of Blotchy Ripening Fruit and Normal Fruit of Tomato
Qi Mingfang;Xu Hui;Li Tianlai
Comparison of physiological and biochemical changes between normal and blotchy ripening fruit (the fruit with brown vascular bundle) using a susceptive variety—Jiafen No. 10 was carried out. The results were as follows: in the blotchy ripening fruit flesh had lower level of ethylene, fructose and glucose as compared with normal fruit. In the Grade One blotchy ripening fruit, total carbon and nitrogen content and the ratio of C/N were lower than that of normal fruit, but in vascular, bundle total carbon and ...

7 Effect of Ratio of Urea to Ammonium Chloride on Nitrate Content in Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis var. utilis Tsen et Lee
Su Tianming;Gu Minghua;Li Xiaofeng;et al.
The study of the effect of urea-ammonium chloride mixture on the nitrate content in Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis var. utilis Tsenet Lee was carried out. The results are as follows: The application of urea-ammonium chloride mixture significantly reduced nitrate content in Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis var. utilis Tsenet Lee. The nitrate content in the plant decreased continuously with the increase of ammonium chloride rate. Ammonium chloride significantly reduced the number of nitrous acid b...

10 Physical and Chemical Properties of Wormcast and Its Effect on Plug Seedling of Tomato
Shang Qingmao;Zhang Zhigang
In order to study the effect of wormcast as growing media on plug seedling of tomato, the physical and chemical properties of wormcast from cornstraw and the emergence rate and quality of seedling grown in mixture of wormcast and vermiculite with different ratio were evaluated. The results showed that the wormcast had greater bulk density, smaller water retention, higher concentration of phosphate and potassium and lower rate of nitrogen as compared with peat moss, and wormcast mix could enhance the growth ...

12 The Response of Eggplant Stock Seedlings under Low Temperature Stress
Gao Qinghai;Xu Kun;Wu Yan;et al.
The change of physiology and biochemistry of eggplant stock seedlings under chilling stress, and the relationship between the change and cold tolerance were studied using scion seedlings of Jinong 2000 as control. The results indicated that stock seedlings were more sensitive after one day under the temperature 10 ℃(day)/1 ℃(night), chilling injury index and soluble protein content rapidly enhanced; but root activity, soluble sugar content, chlorophyll content and photosynthesis rate quickly decreased. With ...

16 Effect of Exogenous Silicon and Proline on Potato Plantlet in Vitro under Salt Stress
Wang Qing;Huang Huiying;Zhang Jinwen;et al.
Potato plantlets were cultured in MS medium with NaCl (0,0.1 %,0.3 %,0.5 %,0.8 %), adding 1 mmol·L -1 silicon or 100 μg·mL -1 proline. It showed that the height and fresh weight of shoot and the length of root decreased significantly under salt stress. The concentration of 0.1 % NaCl could promote the growth of root while the effect disappeared with NaCl concentration increased. Exogenous silicon not only enhanced the growth and weight of roots and the fresh weight of shoot but also reduced the content of f...
