The growth, yield formation, accumulation efficiency and adaptability to season were evaluated in little leaf mustard (Brassica juncea var.foliosa Bailey)(cv. 11 Study on the Carbohydrate Metabolism in Lotus Root during Storage in Field through the Winter

Changes of starch (including amylose and amylopectin),glucose,fructose and sucrose content in lotus root were studied during storage in field through the winter.The results showed that the main storage nutrition of lotus root was starch.In matured rhizome of Wuzhi No.2 starch content was 12.8 %,which was the highest among the four varieties,while Elian No.1 s starch content of 11.2 % was the lowest. 24 A New Potato Variety for Fresh Market—‘Tianshu No.9’

The potato variety of Tianshu No.9 was developed for fresh market by crossing female parent 91-26-116 with male parent 85-6-14.It is a late maturity variety with round tuber shape,light yellow tuber skin color,white flesh and shallow eyes.The variety produces 2.1 tuberes per hill with 172 g of tuber size.Its marketable tuber weight percentage reaches 87.6 %.It is approved to be grown in Tianshui,Linxia,Weiyuan in Gansu province.

26 A New Melon F_1 Hybrid —‘Zetian No.1’

Zetian No.1 is a new melon F_1 hybrid developed by crossing inbred line Tz_ 98-2-2 as female parent with inbred line Tz_ 98-3-5-1 as male parent. It has early maturity, 10-12 days earlier than Qitian No.1.The fruit is round with light yellow skin,tastes sweet and crisp.Average fruit weight is 0.4 kg.It yields about 22.5-30.0 t·hm~ -2 .It has resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew and is suitable for cultivation in both open field and protected field. It has been extended for 2 000 hm~2.
